Your LinkedIn headline is now more important than ever, because it will now be more visible than ever. LinkedIn recently launched a new layout that gives the entire site a more streamlined look and included in this update is a change that will now associate your headline with your name every time you post content on LinkedIn. We have previously explained how your LinkedIn headline follows you around LinkedIn like a shadow, and there are now three major places your headline will now get additional visibility where it previously was not displayed. NEWSFEED POSTS Previously when you posted content that would show up in your first degree connections' newsfeeds, only your name would be associated with the post. Now, with LinkedIn's new update, your professional headline will also appear. This is especially critical because we can expose our headline to group members who are not first degree connections. A high quality post, plus a powerful headline, could drive profile views from prospects and decision makers we are not currently connected with on LinkedIn. [caption id="attachment_858" align="aligncenter" width="644"]Our professional headline will also show up in our group posts Our professional headline will also show up in our group posts[ VIRAL VIEWS Our LinkedIn headline will also now show up virally in the newsfeeds of 2nd and 3rd degree connections when our 1st degree connections engage with our posted content. More simply, if one of my connections likes, comments, or shares one of my posts, that social engagement can appear in THEIR newsfeed, which will create exposure for my content, and my professional headline, to their 1st degree connections. In the picture below, I am connected with Mike. Mike "liked" the post by Guil, so I see his name, face, and professional headline in my newsfeed, even though Guil and I are 2nd degree connections. If you are posting content on LinkedIn, make sure you have a powerful headline that quickly and succinctly explains who you are and how you help people.
