Weekly Digital Marketing Roundup

April 2, 2017 - By Aaron Hockel

Here are the biggest announcements, product updates, and news stories impacting the digital marketing industry last week:

Facebook Experimenting With Alternate Newsfeed

rocket   Have you noticed the small rocket icon from the above picture on your Facebook app? While many users are not seeing it currently, Facebook confirmed to TechCrunch it is a beta test for an alternative Newsfeed. The discovery style Newsfeed would be filled with articles, stories, photos, and videos that Facebook thinks users would find engaging based on their social actions and network. All of the content would come from sources that users are not currently following. If this gains significant traction and receives a global rollout, it would offer another opportunity for advertisers to reach users on Facebook. Bing Now Offering Expanded Text Ads

Bing Ads Editor has consistently followed suit behind almost every feature update in AdWords for years, and last week they announced they are now offering expanding text ad in version 11.9. One nice feature is that all your existing ads can be exported, converted into expanded text, then be uploaded back into the system. This means advertisers do not have to re-write every ad from scratch. Bing does capture almost 30% of search traffic, so there is value in advertising on it and updating your paid ads accordingly to take advantage of new product tweaks. The program will offer one on one support and training from current Pintrest Ad Experts, but does require a $100/day advertising commitment. The training program is completely free and gives advertises access to Pintrest's Pin Factory which will provide custom made pins for use in ad campaigns. Early reports are indicating a 300% increase in CTR and a 38% decrease in CPC for ads using the custom made pins. For more information click here to visit the Pintrest Propel.
