On October 31, Google unveiled a new ad extension that can be used for search campaigns, called lead form extensions. Lead form extensions are exclusively made for search ads on mobile devices, making it possible for customers to contact a contractor about an estimate right from the ad.
With this new extension, customers can submit their name, phone number, email, and postal code to get more information without ever having to leave the ad – talk about convenient! Not only is this convenient for the customer, but local businesses are benefiting as well.
Over 65% of clicks on paid Google search results come from mobile devices, which is only going to increase over time. In addition to the rise of Google searches on mobile devices, the average cost per click is $2.94.Your Ads account will benefit from Google’s release of the lead form extensions for many reasons, but mostly due to the fact that the user never has to leave the search engine results page, making it much more user-friendly than clicking through to a business’s site on a phone.

Adding lead form ad extensions is done right from your Google Ads account the same way any other ad extension is set up. Contractors can open their ad extensions, click the blue add extension button and select Lead form extension from the list. Google Ads will walk users through the setup and there are also helpful articles in the Google Ads Help Center.
